Using Your Library

Accessibility: See our page on accessibility for what we have available.  If you are unable to get to a library, you can request homebound delivery.

Accounts: Holds can be placed on your account from any device that has internet access, and you can also renew materials (if available) there.  If you have account questions, call your library during open hours or use our contact us form.  Details on borrowing and renewing are here.

Arts and Cultural Activities Passes: You can access free and discounted passes to arts and cultural organizations, including museums, online using smARTpass.  You'll need your library card number to reserve passes.  There are no passes at the library locations.

Ask a Librarian:  You can chat live with a librarian for research and resource help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  (FYI- this won't necessarily be with a Carver County Librarian, if you have account questions, please contact us directly.)

Catalog: You can search our catalog and place holds on our physical material here.  If you're looking for an eBook or eAudiobook, search for those titles within that collection.

Copiers: Copy machines are available at all libraries. The cost is $.15 per page for black-and-white copies and $.50 per page for color copies.

Computers: All libraries have free public computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office 2010 (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word). Waconia Library has Chromebooks available to check out for in-library use.

Faxing: Faxing is available at all libraries. The cost is $.50 per page (the cover page is free).

Getting Material From Other Libraries: Interlibrary Loan via MNLINK lets you request materials (older than a year) that are not in our catalog.

Library Job Openings: Carver County Library job openings are posted on the Carver County Job Opportunities page when available.

Library Cards:  If you don't have a card yet, you can apply for one online.  Your library card will be sent to you from the county you live in.  

Library Events: Our events are listed on our calendar, you can also sign up for our eNewsletter for more information.

Meeting Rooms: You can fill in an application to reserve meeting rooms at the Chanhassen Library for your meeting or event.  Please read the meeting room policy and guidelines and costs before booking the room.

New Material: Lists of the latest additions to our collection, plus a link to our emailed lists of forthcoming titles, are here.

Printing: All libraries have black and white printing for $.15 per page, and color printing for $.50 a page.   Chanhassen and Victoria have printing available from mobile devices, the other locations have printing available for laptops, details are here

Research: You can access magazine, newspaper, and encyclopedia articles online with your library card.  Most resources are available from any device with an internet connection, select resources are only available within the library. 

Scanning: All libraries have scanners.  There is no charge to scan, but please bring a USB drive to save your files.

Study Rooms: Study room/s are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Chanhassen, Chaska, Norwood Young America, and Waconia Libraries.  Chanhassen has a study room for teenagers available during the after school hours.  There are additional study spaces within the library.

Wireless Internet Access (WiFi): WiFi is available at all libraries during open hours. The wireless network is CarverPublicWiFi.  wireless password is necessary to access the wireless network and changes monthly.
