Computer access is by appointment at Chanhassen and Waconia Libraries on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm and Tuesdays from 10 am to 7 pm. Additional details are below.

Select terminals with Lexis or the Minnesota Courts Self-Help Center, and more are available at the Law Library at the Government Center from Monday-Thursday from 8 am-4:30 pm starting June 15, please see their web page for more information on appointments and more in that location.

Reservations

  • Reservations must be made ahead of time.
  • You can reserve a computer the work day before or on the day you wish to use it.
    • Example: On Friday and Monday, we would accept reservations for Monday.
  • There is only one computer session per person per day allowed.
  • Time slots begin on the hour and last 50 minutes. There are no time extensions. 
  • Only the person with the reservation is allowed into the library.
  • Children must be eight or older to reserve a computer.
  • Reservations are taken only by phone during the times listed below, not in person.
    • Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 5 pm
    • Tuesdays from 10 am to 7 pm
      • To make a reservation at the Chanhassen Library, call 952-227-1502
      • To make a reservation at the Waconia Library, call 952-442-4714 extension 3.

At the Library

  • We need everyone seeking appointment services to visit our libraries wearing a cloth face covering or mask.
    • A limited number of masks will be available at the library if you forget to bring one.
    • Masks must be worn during the entire visit.
    • If you are unable to wear a cloth face covering or mask, alternate arrangements must be made.
  • Please arrive in front of library no earlier than 10 minutes before start time and socially distance while waiting for entrance.
    • Cones or other visual cues will be placed outside so people can stand six feet apart while waiting.
      • At the Chanhassen Library, use the main entrance door on the far left
      • At the Waconia Library, use the main entrance.
  • Late arrivals will not be allowed access to their session
  • Only the person that made a reservation is allowed into the library.
  • Building access is only for use of library computers, not the WiFi. 
  • There is no access to other areas of the library, except restrooms.
  • Computer workstations will be socially distanced.
  • Staff will wipe down public computers, keyboards, mice, and surrounding countertop area after each session use.

Using the Computers

  • You will need to bring your own earbuds or headphones and flash drives if needed.
    • There will be no option for purchase or loan. 
  • Bring your library card if you have one.
    • We won't issue library cards on site.

    • Guest passes will be provided if you don't have a library card. 
  •  Time slots will begin on the hour and last for fifty minutes and then you will be asked to exit the building.
    • Computer sessions won't be extended.
  • Printing will be free, but please limit your use to what's necessary so that others may print.
