Library Cards

Carver County Library cards are free to all the residents of Carver County with current identification. For your convenience, always bring your Carver County Library card when you visit the library.  You are responsible for materials checked out on your library card. Parents are responsible for all materials borrowed by their children.  Report a lost card or change of address immediately.

By registering for an account with Carver County Libraries, the individual assumes responsibility for:

  • Payment of late fees incurred on their account
  • Payment for any lost or damaged materials
  • Updating their contact information in the event it changes

Please read the following criteria for obtaining borrowing/requesting privileges with Carver County Libraries:

Carver County Residents (18+)

You may register for a Carver County library card using the form below. Your card will be processed and mailed to you within 7-10 days. Once you receive your card, you may initially request and/or check out up to five items. You will be granted full borrowing privileges upon presenting your card and proof of address (current driver’s license, piece of mail, etc.) in person at any Carver County library. If you have an existing account with Carver County libraries please apply for a new card in person at any of our branches. Replacement library cards are $1.

Carver County Residents (under age 17)

May register for a Carver County library card using our online form. Your card will be processed and mailed to the attention of your parent/guardian within 7-10 days. Once you receive your card, you may initially request and/or check out up to five items. You will be granted full borrowing privileges upon presenting your card and proof of address (parent’s driver’s license, piece of mail, etc.) in person at any Carver County library. If you have an existing account with Carver County libraries please apply for a new card in person at any of our branches. Replacement library cards are $1.

Residents of Other Minnesota Counties

You may register your current library card from your card from another county using the form below- please note that the card must be from the location you currently live in.  We will notify you once your account has been prepared. You may initially request and/or check out up to five items. You will be granted full borrowing privileges upon presenting your card and proof of address (current driver’s license, piece of mail, etc) in person at any Carver County Library.  Please note some of our online resources are for Carver County resident cardholders only.

If you live in the metro area and do not have a card, you may use the form below to register for one.  The information will be forwarded to your home library system. They will mail you a library card within 30 days which you may then register with Carver County libraries.
