• Adults (18+)
  • Requires application, background check, training, and orientation.
• Teens (13-17)
  • Requires application, training, and orientation.
    • Summer Reading volunteers will need to fill in additional applications, see the Current Volunteer Opportunities section for those when available.
• Advisory Groups
  • The Teen Advisory Board applications are closed for 2024-2025 school year.
  • The Youth Advisory Group is on hiatus until 2025. Please watch the calendar for future meeting dates.
• Friends of the Library Groups
  • Help with fundraising, including book sales, and more. Contact them directly for more information regarding those.

 Organizations

• Please contact Library Program Coordinator Jessica Schenk for information.

• Assembling crafts and other project materials for library use.
• Program set up and tear down and activities.
• Shelving books.
• A variety of Summer Reading program help (teens).
• Advisory groups may help plan programs.
• Friends groups help with book sales.

Please note that an application may require additional documentation and does not guarantee placement. All positions are open until filled.

Garden Volunteers (Chaska Library)

• Age 18+. Help work in the community garden, prepare materials, and deliver produce to local food shelves. Application window is March 1-May 31.
  • Print and return the County application form and Garden Volunteer interest form to the Chaska Library

To volunteer at the library you will need to:

1. Fill in the Carver County Volunteer Application and turn in at your library during the application window. For some opportunities, libraries may need additional information.
2. Pass a background check if you are 18 and older.
3. Complete and pass online training on ethics, safety, and harassment prevention.
4. Attend an orientation session at the library where you plan to volunteer and agree to the terms in the volunteer manual.
5. Once the above is complete, you will be contacted regarding scheduling.

Please note volunteers that are inactive for more than 6 months must reapply.
