What items are fine free?
Fine free means overdue fines. Fax fees have also been eliminated as of January 1, 2025. All other fees are still in place, including printing, meeting rooms, flash drives, etc.
Will this eliminate previous fines on my card?
No. Fines on your card prior to January 1, 2025 will remain there.
Do I still need to return my items?
Yes. All items will still have a due date and need to be returned. Fees will still be incurred for lost and damaged materials. Items are marked lost if they are not returned within 14 days from the due date.
When will users receive a notice after their due date has passed?
The first overdue notice is sent in 3 days, the second overdue notice in 7. A final overdue notice is sent in 14 days. At that point the item is assumed lost and is assessed a replacement fee. If you're not receiving these notices and you'd like to, please contact your library during open hours.
Do I still need to pay for lost or damaged items?
Yes, lost items and damaged item fees still apply. Replacement fees will be assessed for items more than 14 days overdue and assumed lost. The replacement fee includes the cost of the item plus a processing fee.
I have $25.00 or more in fines and my account is blocked, what should I do?
Library accounts are blocked when they reach $25 in fines. This would apply if a user had $25 or more in fines from December 31, 2024 or prior. It also applies to users that have lost or damaged items valued at $25 or more. Items will need to be returned and the balance will need to be paid down to below $25 for users to have borrowing privileges reinstated. Please contact your library if you need assistance with your account.
