Did you know the Library has tons of events, programs and classes for teens? Even better, many are low-cost or even free! This is a great chance to meet new people, learn a new skill or try something new.  Whether you like to read, write, do homework, or hang out, the library is where it’s at!
 
 

 

 

 

 

 



 

Loft Writing Classes for Teens
 
Alternate Universes-Creating Fictional Worlds
How do you create fictional but vivid and detailed "other worlds" in fiction? Learn how celebrated authors have mastered the art of creating these alternate worlds where anything is possible, and how you can too!
For ages 13-18. Class size is limited, call your library to register!

Read to Write!
Can reading The Hunger Games teach you to be a writer? You bet it can! By reading as much fiction as you can get your hands on, available right here at your public library, you can become the writer you've always wanted to be! Come learn what Harry Potter can teach you about world building in fiction; what Neil Gaiman can teach you about creating memorablee characters; and what Veronica Roth's Divergent series can teach you about plot! After this 90-minute session you'll be inspired to write your own mind blowing fiction. Registration required and class size is limited. Contact your library to get in these really cool courses!

2014 Teen Lit Con
 
What is Teen Lit Con:
The 2014 Teen Lit Con is an inaugural event to bring teens together with their favorite authors or favorites they hadn’t known about before attending. We have 10 authors participating: Maureen Johnson, David Levithan, Ally Condie, Derf Backderf, Catherine Clark, Carrie Mesrobian, Geoff Herbach, Anne Greenwood Brown, Swati Avasthi and Pete Hautman. There will be panels, keynotes, writing workshops and an exhibit hall with book sales, book signings, and other book related cool stuff to do.

    Do you have suggestions for making the library friendlier and more exciting for teens? Join other teens who meet monthly to help create, plan, promote and run programs and activities as part of a Teen Advisory Group. Enjoy some snacks and beverages and help make your library everything you want it to be.
