When you find the item you want,
1. Click the “Get it!” button next to only one record per item. Multiple requests slow the process.
2. Make sure the item’s format matches your request (audiobook, DVD, large print, etc.).
3. Choose your Carver County Library branch pickup location.
4. Enter your email address at the bottom of the form. Your email will not be shared.
5. Click the “Request” button to submit your request.
The library will notify you when your item arrives.
MnLINK will email you if your item is unavailable at the time of your request.
Q: What kinds of materials can I request?
A: You can request all types of materials, as well as articles from periodicals. However, some libraries prohibit lending DVDs, CDs, and other special types of materials through MnLINK.
Q: Can I request recently published items through MnLINK?
A: If the item you want was released in the last 12 months, please submit a request for purchase on our website
or with a librarian.
If we purchase the item, we will reserve it for you.
If we don’t purchase the item, we will try to obtain it through MnLINK.
Q: If a popular item is unavailable at my home library because of long request lists, can I request it through MnLINK?
A: Requests placed through MnLINK for items that your home library owns will not be filled through MnLINK.
Q: Can I specify that I want an item from the closest library? Wouldn’t that be the quickest and shortest route?
A: Not necessarily. Your requested item may not be available at a nearby library.
Plus, some libraries prohibit lending DVDs, CDs, or special types of materials through MnLINK.
Q: How do I track my requests?
A: Log in to MnLINK, then click the “My Requests” link to bring up a list of your requests. Each request shows a status. Hover over the “What does the status mean?” link for a list of status definitions.
Q: How do I cancel a request?
A: In “My Requests,” click the title of the request you wish to cancel, then click the “Cancel” link on the right side of the page. On the next screen, click the blue “Cancel Request” button.
Q: How long does it take for an item to arrive?
A: It typically takes at least two weeks for items to arrive, based on their availability, popularity, and location.
Q: Where do I return MnLINK items?
A: Please return all MnLINK items to the library where you checked them out.
Q: My login was not successful. Why?
A: MnLINK checks the status of your card with your home library. Contact your home library to resolve any issues with your card.
You can still search for items without logging in.
Q: I never received the item I requested. Why wasn’t I notified?
A: MnLINK will notify you via email if your request has been cancelled. If you choose not to provide an email at the time of your request, you can monitor the progress of your requests: Log in to MnLINK, then click the “My Requests” link to bring up a list of your requests. Each request shows a status. Hover over the “What does the status mean?” link for a list of status definitions.
Q: I received an email telling me that my request was not filled. What do I do?
A: The item you requested may not have been available at the time of your request.
You can re-request the item.
