Adopt-a-shelf
Like to sort and organize? You can adopt a shelf or shelves as your own and help to maintain proper order and appearance. Volunteers must be able to file alphabetically and numerically. Once trained, volunteers can come in at their convenience anytime the library is open. Service groups and organizations are encouraged to apply.

Internet Volunteer Needed
Chaska and Watertown library branches are looking for volunteers to teach adult computer classes. Classes are typically 1-2 hours in length, offered once a week, and limited to two students. As a volunteer you will need good, basic computer skills. This is a great opportunity to interact with others who are curious and excited to learn the benefits of technology. Plant Watering
Put your green thumb to work. Help make the Chanhassen Library a friendly and inviting environment by watering the indoor plants. An individual is needed to lend a hand with their care. This task requires about an hour each week and the ability to perform very light physical work. Time is flexible and can be done at any time during the week. Tax Volunteers
Computer literate persons are needed for the upcoming tax season assisting Carver County Taxpayers. Tax Volunteers help low income and senior taxpayers file tax returns, and get the credits and refunds to which they are entitled. Free tax law training, is offered to individuals who can serve 4 or more hours a week, February through April 15th. Tax preparation is provided at sites throughout the county with an E-file site Tuesday mornings, at Chanhassen Library, 7711 Kerber Boulevard.
This free tax preparation program is sponsored by Carver County Library the AARP Tax-Aide Foundation, IRS, and MN Department of Revenue. For more information contact Tari Clay, tclay@carverlib.org or 952-227-7609.

WHO VOLUNTEERS?
Volunteers come from all walks of life. The Carver County Library Board, members of local Friends of the Library, and Volunteers make a tremendous difference by supporting library services and programs. As a volunteer you bring to the Library your time, talents and commitment. And as a member of the community, you reflect cultural and educational needs and interests of Carver County .

SHELVING AND SHELF-READING
Helping to shelve returned items timely, and maintaining collection of books, periodicals, AV in an orderly manner by reading book shelves. Shifting and circulation checks on periodicals-magazines, newspapers.

INTERNET TRAINER
Assist Library Staff in teaching patrons to feel more comfortable with computer technology in the library through training on the utilizing of the CCL card catalog, Internet and resources, E-mail.
TAX ASSISTANCE
Provide free Tax Assistance to elderly, and low to moderate-income individuals. Training is provided in collaboration with IRS, MN Dept. of Revenue, CCL, and AARP. Tax form assistants are needed to help organize and restock forms made available at local library branches.
BOOKDROP ASSISTANT
Responsible for check-in and routing of items returned to the outside bookdrop. May be asked to assist in other tasks including searching for paging slip items and check-in of new materials.
HOMEBOUND DELIVERY
Provide a vital link to library services by delivering books and other library materials to homebound patrons due to illness, disabilities or lack of transportation.
LIBRARY SUPPORT SERVICES
Volunteers needed for a variety of capacities assisting Staff with on-going library tasks including book and Audio Visual mending and repairs, reinforcing paperbacks, cleaning and repackaging of Audio Visual materials. Dusting, cleaning, and recovering books and shelves. Restocking public workstations with pencils, scrap paper.
STORYTIME
Assist Children/Youth Services Librarian with providing the weekly pre-school Storytime session for young children and parents. Making photocopies and collating materials for children's activities and events. Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply.
SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Assist Children/Youth Services Librarian in putting on special programs and events, including set up, crowd control, clean up, and helping with registering, maintaining, distributing summer reading forms and prizes. Teens are encouraged to volunteer.
FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
Friends of the Library groups support and promote their local Libraries with book sales, and fundraisers. Purpose to promote a community gathering place that enriches the lives focusing on library services to educate, provide resources, and meet the growing information needs of our community.
LIBRARY FOUNDATION MEMBER
Serves on the Library Foundation of Carver County Board, a non-profit organization that seeks to support and cultivate private donations to enhance library services and collections .
OTHER POSITIONS
A variety of special projects/events or short-term positions are available depending on time of the year, and request needs by Administration or local Carver County Library Branches.
